FINALE!!!!!

WHAT A FABULOUS SHOW!!!!!! I think AI Finale night is becoming as big as the Super Bowl! I really enjoyed the show. SanJaya seemed to sing better than he did in during the competition. Kelly sounded more like she was yelling. Bette Midler was off key. Tony Bennett was wonderful. Taylor was a joy to watch and sounded great. I loved Bee Bee and Cee Cee Winans singing with Melinda. She really came to live up there with them. That was a super performance for her. LeKisha sounded great with Gladys Knight. They sounded great together last night too! Blake and Jordin were wonderful and it was great to watch them handle the results. I would love to know what Blake whispered to Jordin though!

Well, another season done and gone. I will be tuning into So You Think You Can Dance. My daughter loves that show. Have a great summer everyone. Linda, get me your personal email address if you want to be included in this next year. Enjoy your retirement!!!!

Finale

Wow! What a night. I must say both Jordin and Blake had their game faces on. In my opinion, I would give round one to Blake and round three to Jordin but am still undecided about round two. I am leaning more towards Jordin. I enjoy Blake's voice when he is singing straight or even the beat boxing when appropriate but I still do not believe he has the same talent as Jordin. I would vote that Jordin is the next American Idol. What are your thoughts?

WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE THE WINNER?

Before I even see the show tonight, I am predicting that Jordin will be the winner. I will let you know if I change my mind after tonight. I have heard mixed reviews from people, so who knows!

Voted Off

I can't believe Melinda was voted off! I really expected it to be Melinda and Jordin in the battle of the Idol winner. Wow! Melinda must not appeal to the younger crowd. However, my eleven year old gets tired of hearing Blake beat box. I like Blake, don't get me wrong. I just don't think he is the same caliber as the two ladies.

Last Week. . . Boy am I late!

THE FINAL THREE!!!!!

Jordin: Simon’s Song Choice
Wishing On a Star
Her dress is adorable! The song was sang well. I like the song but it was just missing something for me. I liked Jordin and think she did a fine job and still see her has being the American Idol, but the performance was missing something.

R: Very good vocal. Run was hot.
P: Simon picked a good song for you.
S: Sang it brilliant. Didn’t like the jazz arrangement. Not your best performance.

Blake: Paula’s Song Choice
Roxanne
It was an okay performance. There was a part in the middle I didn’t like. He sounded like he was just shouting. Not his best performance this season. So very glad he did not beat box!

R:Great Great performance. Give you an A it was hot.
P: You did me proud, Blake!
S: Always forced to do an impersonation of Sting and it was as good as the original.

Melinda: Randy’s Song Choice
I Believe In You and Me
FANTABULOUS!!!!! She is in a completely different league.

R: If she can do this, she should get the grand prize.
P: Amazing and fantastic. One of best performances this season.
S: Very Very difficult song to sing. Your best performance in the last four weeks.

ROUND ONE GOES TO MELINDA

Jordin: Producer’s Song Choice
She Works Hard For the Money
Good job Jordin! That song rocked.

R: Very nicely done. It doesn’t matter what you do, you’re working it out.
P: I thought you were fantastic.
S: Very good performance.

Blake: Producer’s Song Choice
This Love
Great song choice for Blake. Perfect place for the beat boxing.

R: That is a good vibe for you. Very nicely done.
P: You are totally in your element.
S: I preferred this one to the other one. That was good.

Melinda: Producer’s Song Choice
Love Push City Limits

R: Another solid performance.
P: We love you, we love you, and we love ya.
S: Love that side of you. Actually think it was again another great performance.

ROUND TWO WAS A TIE
The three contestants are battling it out. All three brought it for round two!!!

Jordin: Jordin’s Song Choice
I Who Have Nothing
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! I liked Jordin singing this song before. She is very passionate. Great vocal and performance. This was a winning performance.

R: Another great performance. Best performance of yours tonight.
P: Great performance.
S: No doubt you sang that song well. But not setting good that a 17 year old sang a 60 year old song.

Blake: Blake’s Song Choice
When I Get You Alone
This is what is going to get Blake voted off the show. The music and words do not seem to go together very well.

R: It was cool. Like the Maroon 5 thing better for you.
P: Three great performances
S: I actually really liked that. You don’t play it safe and you take a risk.

Melinda: Melinda’s Song Choice
I’m A Woman
I wasn’t excited about this performance. I don’t even think it was as good as the first time she did the song.

I don’t have the judges remarks because I had to tend to the baby!

Third round goes to Jordin.

I would vote Blake off!

Last Week. . . Boy am I late

Bee Gee's Night

Holy Cow am I late getting this posted. I also forgot my notes at home on the show last night. I will give it my best from memory. . . .

The four remaining contestants sang two songs last night. At the end of round one I had Jordin being ahead. At the end of round two I had Melinda having done the best on the second songs.

Blake is usually one of my favorites and he sucked! H was not in the zone. In the first song he was ahead of the music. The beat boxing did not go with the song. The second song could have been good with his voice but he screwed it up by all the beat boxing mess. Randy told him he didn't have to beat box on every song. Of course, mushy Paula told him the opposite because why would we want to help the contestants get better with TRUTHFUL constructive comments? I think she works for votefortheworst.com.

Melinda's first song was boring to me. She had great vocals on both songs, but the first one just did nothing for me. Now the second song was really good.

LeKisha didn't have a great night either but it wasn't nearly as bad as Blake's performances. I was disappointed on the first song because she had an opportunity to show off her range by hitting the high notes (Stayin' Alive) and she played it safe. BORING! Her second song was okay but nothing spectacular. Mediocre night for LeKisha. Her outfit for the first song was awful!

Jordin, Jordin, Jordin. The 17 year old did a fabulous job on her first song. There was so much passion. I don't usually like renditions of the song but I loved hers. The second song (A Woman in Love) was a bit much for her but she did okay with it. It eventually got on my nerves because she seemed up high and whiney.

My prediction is that Jordin and Melinda will the the final two with Jordin being the next
American Idol. If you look back in the posts, you will see that I have been saying Jordin for a while now. Based on last night's performance, I would boot Blake off the Island. . .oops wrong show. LOL

We shall see what America thinks tonight!

Bon Jovi Night

YAAHOOOOOO! I AM FINALLY GETTING TO WATCH AMERICAN IDOL AFTER TWO WEEKS!!!! Nope, the kids did not have any activities tonight and so far Aiden is playing and entertaining himself.

Bon Jovi Night

Phil
I thought Phil did an okay job for Phil. I didn’t see his country night so I think tonight was probably his best.

Randy: One of his best nights.
Paula: Blah blah blah
Simon: No authenticity. Won’t make it another week.

Jordin: Living on a Prayer
I LOVE HER SHOES!!!!!! I like the way she compensated for the low notes she couldn’t hit. The second part of the song was better. This isn’t her genre but she held her own.

Randy: Was weird for me
Paula: Knew it was out of your league.
Simon: Out of control, verging on shrieking.

LeKisha: This Ain’t a Love Song
I was nervous for LeKisha after hearing the practice session with Jon Bon Jovi because it seemed rough. She had a few notes that were too low for her range. I think overall LeKisha did a good job. Best so far out of the show tonight.

Randy: A little pitchy in the beginning. Sold everyone on it by the middle.
Paula: Did give everyone a little something something.
Simon: I could actually kiss you after that. Rose to the challenge and nailed the song.
DID SHE JUST KISS SIMON???!!!!

Blake: You Give Love A Bad Name
Utoh! He is going to Blakerize the song! Here we go!
His hair!
I like his version of the song. It was very creative. I think regardless of where he ends up on this show he will make cds and they will sell. There is a market for him and his talents.

Randy: Most original version of a song in history of AI and you won!
Paula: This was amazing. This was your night.
Simon: Half the audience will have hated it and half will have loved it. I think you did the right thing. Very brave and will keep you in the competition in for another week.

Chris: Dead or Alive
Okay, I just don’t like Chris’ singing. I guess he did better than many other nights. He wasn’t as nasally as usual but he sure made some ugly faces. He just looks constipated when he sings. I can’t watch him. Blak!

Randy: You did your thing. But some R&B on it.
Paula: This is turning out to be a great night. Good Job!
Siimon: Did what you could with the song because it is not your type of music. Don’t know if it was good enough to stay another week or not.

Melinda: Have a Nice Day
Melinda is not a rocker but I think she pulled it off good enough. The girl can SING!

Randy:Don’t know if it was your best but it was good
Paula: From the first note the game was on.
Simon: Young Tina Turner. Vocally a different league than everyone else.

My favorites tonight was Laura and President George Bush! LOL Seriously, my favorites were:
Blake
Melinda and LeKisha were tied for me this week.

My worst were Phil and Chris. . . as usual.

Going Home

Well, I almost had a heart attack watching AI last night. I didn't get to see the entire show so I was very surprised at the end that nobody was sent home. Whew! I thought it was going to be Jordin and thought that was an in justice! Hopefully, I will get to see next week's show.

I MISSED IT AGAIN!

Hi friends. . . and family. LOL

I missed AI again this week. Those doggone kids schedule their crap on AI night. The nerve! I heard some chat on the radio this morning about last nights show though. I heard that Blake sucked and so did LaKisha. It was said that Blake's song was too easy and that LaKisha should not have done a Fantasia song. It was too big for her. It was stated that Phil wasn't too bad and that he is now on the Vote For the Worst website. A few people have mentioned Jordin winning the competition. If she does, I TOLD YOU SO! On the radio station I was listening to this morning, the prediction was that LaKisha would be going home tonight. I would much rather see nasal tone Chris hit the bricks! Post comments and get me up to speed on what I missed last night!

4/17/2007 American Idol Night!

Hey folks! I will probably miss AI this Tuesday due to playing Mom to the middle child. He has a school skate night. Will someone post how the contestants did or email me and I will post it?

Thanks!

4/11/07 Going Home

Boy oh Boy! I sure have not been predicting things very well this season. I usually have my 2 picks in the bottom three, but really thought Phil was going home last night instead of Haley.

Final 8 - Jennifer Lopez

It was Latin night on American Idol last night. For the most part it was a fun show. None of the contestants blew my socks off but there were two that I enjoyed over the rest.

Melinda: I missed her performance. What I saw of the snipit at the end was great. Not sure why Simon was so pissy about her performance and not having fun.

LeKisha: Conga
LeKisha had awesome hair last night. I was afraid she might fall out of her dress though. I thought she had a great vocal and performance.
R: Having a good time, made it your own.
P: Safe LeKisha performance.
S: Agree with Paula

Chris: Smooth
The beginning of the song was flat to me. It was like the key he was singing in was too low for him. Chris did try to make the song his own. I am not crazy about all the runs he puts in his songs.
R:Did a really good job.
P:Hot performance.
S: Not best vocal. Liked the performance better than the first two singers.

Haley: Turn the Beat Around
I don't have a lot to say about Haley. Good job for Haley. Sounded a bit out of breath at the end.
R: Really Karaoke.
P: Fun song.
S: Can't do well in the competition with your voice so you have to fun. Felt vocals were rushed.

Phil: Maria Maria
Better vocal and performance than last week but still not good. The song choice suited him but he is out talented. The pitch problem at the end wasn't as bad as Simon made it out to be.
R: Didn't quite connect.
P: Good vocal.
S: No originality.

Jordin: Conga
Best performance of the night for me. She made the song original, had great vocals and the performance was fun and entertaining.
R: You got it!
P: So authentic.
S: Okay performance.

Blake: a Marc Anthony song forget the name right now
Blake is my favorite male contestant. I really enjoy listening to his voice. He is a bit much to watch most of the time. I think Jordin out sang him though.
R: Hot song choice and performance.
P: Very smart.
S: Best song choice and performance of the night.

Sanjaya:
Last night was the best he has looked so far this season. His vocal was actually okay, just not believable.
R: That was really good.
P: Smooth, very nice.
S: It was horrible.

That about sums up the night for me. My favorites this week were Jordin and Blake. The bottome two were Chris and Phil. Nope, as much as I hate to admit it Sanjaya was not the worst for me this week. He had better be careful, doing better may get him voted off the show! Can't wait to hear from the rest of you!

Antother Comment. . .

I really feel that the vote for the worst that is keeping Sanjaya on the show is really mean for Sanjaya. Did anyone see his expression last night? I can't imagine how it makes him feel every week to watch someone he has made friends with that deserves to be on the show more than he does go home and he stay. People think they are being funny but in actuality it is making a mockery out of the poor boy. He goes on to perform every week knowing it's a big joke. I guess maybe he could just withdraw. I don't blame him for riding the wave of publicity while he has it, I just feel that enough is enough.

Going home week 9

Boy did I get it wrong this week! I really thought Haley or Phil were going home. Gina was not one of the top singers but did not derserve to go home last night. What a surprise!

Wednesday, April 4, 2007

Final 9 Tony Bennett

Not my favorite genre but I managed to get through it.

Blake: I missed his performance. I would love to hear (read) comments.

Phil: Day and Night
A few rough notes in this song but an overall decent vocal. The performance was very boring for me.
R: Didn't feel a connection. Have more joy.
P: Young Frank Sinatra, show more personality.
S: Showed the joy of someone singing at a funeral.

Melinda: I've Got Rythmn
Great vocal but the dress sucked. Melinda seems very comfortable on stage and performing.
R: Gives everyone a lesson in singing every week.
P: Flawless performance.
S: Liked the last half of the song. Don't think we will ever be able to criticize you.

Chris:
Mr. Bouncy Knees. Chris had an okay vocal and seemed to have a good time performing his song. I think I am biased because I just don't like him. The sound of his nasally voice is obnoxious and his wanna be hip hop bounce is the same no matter what he sings. He is annoying.
R: Came out with a vengence. One of your best performances this season.
P: You didn't compromise. The song was hip and cool.
S: Thought it was very good, very believable.

Jordin: On a Clear Day
Jordin sang with a clear and crisp voice. Very good vocal I think. She had a very relaxed performance. WATCH OUT! Isn't this how Kelly Clarkston snuck in the first season?
R: The bomb!
P: So frickin' proud of you.
S: Sang very well but do think it was young and current.

Gina: Smile
What is up with her hair??? Great vocal but the performance was only okay for me. I would love to see a rocker chick win this year though.
R: Very controlled.
P: Flawless
S: Can't rave on the vocals because two girls before you out sang you.

Sanjaya:
OH MY LORD! Sanjaya goes geek singing Cheek to Cheek!!! His performance reminded me of soemthing from the Partridge Family. Weak vocal. . . dah!!!!!
R: Not going to comment on the vocal anymore. Great entertainer.
P: Charming. Vocals off in the beginning.
S: I am going to try something different this week. . . INCREDIBLE.

Haley: Misbehavin'
Broadway performance - maybe cruise ship entertainment.
R: Good type of song for you.
P: You did your thing.
S: Good style of song for you but a little pagenty.

LeKisha: Stormy Weather
Beginning of the song was a bit rough. LeKisha recovered the vocals well though and finished the song on a great note!
R: Perfect song for you.
P: Sang beautifully and look beautiful.
S: Sassy great performance!

The best performance for me this week were: Jordin and Gina.
The worst performance for me this week were: Sanjaya (but I guess he doesn't count), Haley and Phil.

Final 10 - Gwen Stephani

Final 10 – Gwen Stephani

It is six minutes until show time. Gwen Stephani is to be on the Idol tonight and I am wondering what type of music she is going to coach the contestants on. HMMMMM. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy many of Gwen’s songs. I just don’t view her as an authority to the industry.

LeKisha: Let’s Dance
Another great performance by LeKisha. She looks great, sounds great. I like that she chose something other than a ballad. There hasn’t been anything she can’t sing so far. YOU GO GIRL!!!!

R: You did that like a true fly diva.
P: Donna Summer is not an easy artist and you did outstanding.
S: Love the big note at the end. Great vocal.

Chris S.: Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic

Why do they grab the mic stand and walk around? This isn’t even a rockin’ song. Chris’ performance did nothing for me. Not one of his better vocals. The whole thing just seemed off.

R: Good song choice but at a different tempo than the band.
P: Vocally sat really nice but gotta feel the beat.
S: I thought it was a mess. It was all over the place and different feel right.

Gina: I’ll Stand By You
Wow! Rocker chick did an outstanding job! I really enjoyed her performance. Great control on her vocals. This was the perfect song choice for Gina.

R: One of your best performances ever.
P: I love that you are improving every week. Best performance so far.
S: Wasn’t one of your best performances. . . it WAS your best.

Sanjaya “Guy Smiley”:

I HAVE TO NURSE THE BABY. I WILL NOT BE ABLE TO FINISH THIS WEEK. IF SOMEONE ELSE WANTS TO FINISH THIS UP, PLEASE FEEL FREE.

How does this boy stay on the show? He is absolutely terrible! His hair was ridiculous. This Michael Jackson want-to-be is a joke.

Jordin
I guess she did okay but I wasn’t crazy about her song choice. Some of my disappointment with the song was due to the back up singers.

Phil
I REALLY did not like Phil this week. Not a good song choice. His vocals were alright but the performance just didn’t have any umph!

Chris R
Sucks! People are referring to him as Timberfake but my eleven year old says it should be TimberFLAKE.

Haley
Not a great performance this week. I still think she would do better singing on the soundtrack of a Disney animated film.

Melinda
This girl can sing. She brings it every week and has great stage presents. Of course, being a backup singer she has had experience of being in front of a crowd. I think she still seems shy when she is on stage, but that is a part of her appeal. I will be very disappointed if she does not make it to the finale.

I am obviously missing someone and have no clue off the top of my head who it could be. Must not have been a memorable performance. The top performers for me this week are: Melinda, LeKisha, Gina, and Blake.

The bottom two this week should be Sanjaya and Chris S.

Final 11 BRITISH INVASION

Haley : Tell Him I Think He’s Perfect

Haley who forgot her words last week but still managed to return this week didn’t do anything for me again this week. Oops! Did she just forget her words again?! She sounds very karaoke. Her outfit is kinda cute though.

Randy: Best performance, Haley’s back!
Paula: Perfect song for you, adorable.
Simon: You naughty little thing. It was fun, young, a bit shrieky in the middle.

Chris: Don’t Let the Sun Catch you Crying

Probably his best performance. His voice wasn’t nasally and high pitched like usual. I could actually listen to him if he sang like this all the time. Not bad.

Randy: Another great performance. Showed another side.
Paula: Very sexy and charming
Simon: I think that was your best performance ever. Your control on the song was excellent.

Stephanie: You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me

Her voice started out a little weak but she picked it up quickly. Stephanie is one of my favorite on the show. I wonder if the contestants have any control over what the backup singers do? I think if the backup girls would have done something different the song would have not sounded so dated.

Randy: Not best performance for you for me. Good pick of songs.
Paula: Love what you are wearing. Do think you picked the right song. A few notes were off.
Simon: Think you are losing your edge, your soul. Very night club. Miss passion and rawness.

Blake: Time of the Season

YEAH!!!!!! He did a great job!!! I love the beginning. He Blakorized the song. I really enjoy the sound of his voice. His beat boxing is good too!

Randy: Huge Blake fan. You made the song really current. Great.
Paula: This season is for Blake. Really think you raised the bar.
Simon: Million times better than last week. Think this week you chose the right song and put your own tone to it without messing with the melody.

Lekisha: Dimonds are Forever

This song could be the next James Bond movie theme song! Lekeisha has such a strong voice and great control. A good performance.

Randy: Not my favorite song. Didn’t feel enough Lekisha in it. Just all right.
Paula: Made the right choice and picked the right song. Very smart girl.
Simon: Was Lekisha in 50 years. Not favorite performance. Too old, too old fashion.

Phil: Tabacco Road

Phil modernized the song. But I don’t know if I buy him as a rocker. I love all the scales he can hit with his voice. I think he is talented. Did he mess up the words or could I just not understand what he said? The performance was a’ight.

Randy: Couple pitchy spots. Like his upper range.
Paula: Real good choice of song. Some parts pitchy.
Simon: Not crazy about it. Third division boy band.

Jordin: I Who Have Nothing

Can you believe she is only 17! She may become one of my favorites. Outstanding!

Randy: Great performance!
Paula: A good singer is a good singer. And you are a wonderful performer.
Simon: You sang the song beautifully.

Sanjaya: You Really Got Me

Wow! How fun. He does have some energy.. It was an alright performance. Best I have seen him do, but still not one of my favorites.

Ra: Really shocked me tonight. Best performance so far
Paula: Really fun to see him like this.
Simon: Said the little crying girl’s face says it all.

Gina: Paint it Black

She is a genuine rocker. It was an okay performance. Hit a couple rough spots. Let’s see how far she goes. For some reason rocker chicks don’t make it far on this show.

R: Loved edge vibe, no favorite performance.
P: Miles better than last week.
S: Moments of complete torture during performance. Just horrible.

Chris: She’s Not There

I like Chris. He didn’t do anything for me last week but I think he redeemed himself this week with his song choice.

R: A little bit rough in the beginning but wound up good.
P: Dressing much nicer. Like him working the audience. Vocals good.
S: I think you did your thing. It was fun, not best vocal for the night but better than last week.

Melinda: As Long As He Needs Me

WOW WOW WOW!!! That woman can sing! Awesome job!

R: Saved the best vocal for last.
P: In your own league.
S: Second half of the song sensational.

Final 12

Sorry I am a week late getting this going. Being a new mom of my third child has me a bit busy. . . especially in the evening. Here are my overall comments for last week.

Being a long time American Idol fan I feel qualified to state that this is the worst year for talent in the history of American Idol. I think the judges made some poor choices on some of the contestants they brought to Hollywood along with who they cut for the final 24.

Sanjaya and Haley should have never made it through to the final 12. That screw up is on America!

Chris: A boy band wanna be. He tries to come off a Justine Timberlake but just doesn’t have what it takes. I have a hard time watching him sing. His facial expressions and overall gestures are annoying.

Stephanie, LeKeisha, and Melinda are my favorite females on the show. I might even go as far as saying that I think LeKeisha and Melinda will go all the way. My favorite guys are Blake, Phil and Chris but I am not confident that any of them are good enough to get to the end.

My vote on who should go home is Sanjaya and alternate Haley.

Going home

So Brandon goes home. WHATEVER. How did Michael Jackson wanna be make it again!!!!!
